Where my feet hurt
7/30/2010 Follow Up – Worked like a charm on MOOSA, made the 50 to 70 mile rides a lot more pleasant
The balls of my feet are very tender and bicycle shoe cleats make them hurt. The pain in my feet is one of the reasons I have had a love – hate relationship with clipless pedals. The Frogs I am using now are a lot better but the cleat tops still make my feet hurt.
Last year I put a piece of hard rubber gasket material over the cleats tops and under my Louis Garneau insoles. After much fiddling and trimming, I got to a workable solution. I can ride all day, my feet are uncomfortable but it is not a major problem.
Today while buying a few personal items for the MOOSA Tour, I saw Profoot bottom of the foot cushions. They look like just what I wanted and a lot better than the rubber gaskets I have been using. They were $3.82 for a pair at WalMart.
Just remember to put the wide part forward when you put them in your shoes. I’ll update this post after I have some experience riding with them, but right now they look very good.
